Our community shop was officially opened on 25th September, 2010! Click here for pictures. Early in 2008 the proprietors of our Village Post Office and Stores announced their intention to close the business. A public meeting was held and the majority were in favour of setting up a community shop with the support of The Plunkett Foundation, through its Community Owned Shop activity (formerly known as ViRSA). Under this scheme ViRSA gave a grant of £12 000 which we had to match by raising £12 000,and by taking out a loan for the same amount from the Co-operative Loan Fund. A committee was set up to drive the scheme forwards. Our fundraising included £10 000 in grants from Staffordshire County Council's Rural Access to Services Partnership (RASP) and Advantage West Midlands. Shareshill Parish Council granted £3000 and 244 villagers (to date) each bought one £10 share. The Community shop is run by the community, for the community. Any profit made after refurbishment costs will be ploughed back into community projects. Volunteers are welcome to help with this venture. In October 2010 the shop won a Regeneration Award from the South Staffordshire Partnership. In addition Councillor Bob Cope won an individual award for instigating the process and driving the project forwards. |

The Luncheon club has grown from an initiative started by several members of Shareshill church. Membership is therefore open to people living in the ecclesiastical parish of Shareshill which includes Shareshill, Hilton, Featherstone and both Great and Little Saredon.
We do not belong to any external leagues, though we do have an internal league. The club is about social bowling, it is not necessary to play twice per week or in fact every week. There is no pressure to attend the main principle is to come when you can make it and feel relaxed and enjoy yourself - it is as much a social club as a bowling club. If anyone is interested in coming along for a visit drop into Shareshill Village Hall any Monday or Wednesday night. Contact: Mike Ramsbottom (Chairman) 01922 412027, John Vincent (Vice Chairman) 01922 413581, Mandy Ralphs (Secretary) 01922 412207 Alternatively use the “Contact us/feedback” link and your message will be passed on to us.

This is a voluntary group. They assist the Ambulance service with emergency 999 and 112 calls responding to calls from the Ambulance Control Centre. Being locally-based they will invariably arrive on scene first to assess and start any treatment that may be necessary. Once the professional medic arrives they hand over responsibility. For further details and how you can help visit Featherstone Community First Responders.
